A SON of a Japanese national was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of Bago City Police Station at his residence in Barangay Lag-asan Tuesday afternoon.
Police confiscated from Koichi Sasaki's possession P20,000 worth of suspected shabu or (methamphetamine hydrochloride).
The suspect was born in the Philippines while his father is a Japanese national.
Superintendent Arnel Arpon, chief of Bago City Police Station, said Sasaki, 29, was arrested after he handed to a police poseur-buyer one plastic sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P500 in marked money.
Police recovered from Sasaki's possession two plastic sachets of suspected shabu, P1,110 cash, and P500 marked money.
The operatives also served the search warrant to the suspect issued by Judge Hermigildo Octaviano of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Branch 4 in Bago City.
Arpon said they recovered four more plastic sachets of suspected shabu, 25 empty plastic sachets with traces of suspected shabu, improvised tooter, eight disposable lighters, a pair of scissors, and two aluminum foils inside the room of the suspect.
He said that on June 2, they conducted a test-buy with the suspect and the items were found positive of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
Arpon added that they immediately applied for the issuance of search warrant to arrest the suspect, who engaged in selling of illegal drugs near the public school in Barangay Lag-asan.
He said they are preparing the documents for the filing of charges for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against the suspect, who is detained at the Bago police lock-up cell. (MAP)
