P75,000 in gift checks at stake in ‘SM to SM Run’

ORGANIZERS yesterday bared a total of P75,000 worth of gift certificates at stake for the `SM to SM Run' set on Sunday that aims to raise funds for Typhoon Yolanda survivors in the Visayas Region.

SM City Davao PR officer Precious A. Lagario, in an e-mailed interview, said the 21K champion will receive P10,000 worth of gift certificates while the second and third placers will settle for P7,000 and P3,000, respectively.

The 5k and 3K male and female first three finishers will also pocket P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000 in the event that hired the services of Vantage Sports Promotions chief Kenneth Sai as race director.

Lagario, in a recent press statement, said special prizes will also be given away to the most number of family members joining the run; couples; pet dog and masters, masked hero costume and father and child.

"This is our first fund-raising run in Davao. Although Cebu has been doing the SM-to-SM run for the past years. For the Yolanda Housing Project, SM is committed to build 1000 houses. We are targeting to raise funds for one to two houses from the Color Fun Run," Lagario added.

Assembly for the race will start at 4 a.m.

In 21K, runners will pass through Quimpo Boulevard, Quezon Boulevard, Cabaguio Avenue, and J.P. Laurel to SM Lanang Premier and back to origin via Dakudao Loop. Turning point for 3K is at Quimpo Boulevard-Gasera while Quimpo Boulevard before the Land Transportation Office will be the turning point for 5K.

Organizers urged runners, "To wear white shirts at the start of the race as they will be doused from head to toe in different hues of body paint, colored powder and neon glow paint for every leg of the race and finish in color. They are also required to wear shorts or tights, protective eye gears and comfortable running shoes during the event."

Registration fees are P500 for 21K and P250 for 5K and 3K.

Interested participants may sign up at the ground floor of SM City Davao and the upper ground level of SM Lanang Premier.

The SM to SM Color Fun Run is supported by Sun.Star Davao, Edge Davao, Mindanao Times, Coca-Cola, Park Inn by Radisson Davao, ABS-CBN, Happy Lemon, M Magazine, Power Mac Center, Phoenix Petroleum Philippines, Lapanday and LBC.
