SM marks Independence Day with exhibit of Philippine flag made of native chocolate

MALL-GOERS can’t help but feast their eyes on a huge heart-shaped Philippine flag currently displayed in the SM Northwing Atrium.

What made this display so noticeable is the fact that it is made of chocolate.

For the second time around, SM City Cebu has partnered with The Chocolate Chamber to come up with this display in time for the 116th Independence Day celebration.

RJ Leduna, senior public relations manager of SM Supermalls in Visayas and Mindanao, said the management decided to transform the layout of last year’s flag made of chocolates and shaped the flag into a heart this year.

Tablea

Dubbed as “HeartPH”, the flag is 12.5 by 11 feet, and is composed of over 6,000 chocolates produced by The Chocolate Chamber. It was unveiled last June 8.

SM Cebu invited the Department of Agriculture during the unveiling, since most of the chocolates used were made from tablea or native chocolate.

Today, SM Cebu will distribute more than 6,000 chocolates to shoppers, through promotional activities or purchase.
