SEVERAL high powered-firearms were seized Wednesday from three members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA-ABB) in simultaneous raids at Barangays 2 and Nataban, San Carlos City.

Police identified the suspects as Marlon de los Santos, 36, of Barangay 2; Josetam Ramas, 42 and his uncle Mario, 60, both residents of Barangay Nataban.

Police Officer 3 Rodney Sarona, desk officer of San Carlos City Police Station, said the suspects were arrested at 5:30 a.m. by virtue of search warrants for violation of Presidential Decreee 1866 as amended by Republic Act 8294 or illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions issued by Judge Catherine Go of Regional Trial Court Branch 59 of San Carlos City.

Recovered from De los Santos’s possession were one caliber 5.56 M16 riffle, seven steel long magazines of M16 rifle, 45 rounds of live ammunition of M16 rifle, one modified caliber .30 carbine, three steel short magazines of carbine rifle, 39 rounds of live ammunition of .38 caliber carbine, one caliber .45 pistol made in China, two steel 10 loader magazines for caliber .45 pistol, three steel standard magazines of .45 caliber pistol, and 40 rounds of live ammunition of .45 caliber pistol.

A unit of Smith and Wesson armalite and 276 rounds live ammunition of M16 were recovered from the house of Mario Ramas.

Police also recovered from Josetam Ramas’ possession a unit of Colt .45 caliber pistol, an M16, nine live ammunition of .45 caliber, and a short steel magazine of .45 caliber pistol.

Sarona said De los Santos was identified as a leader of RPA-ABB in First District of Negros Occidental while the two others are members of RPA-ABB.

Cambi said over Aksyon Radyo Bacolod they received an information that the suspects were armed of unidentified firearms, and they immediately applied for the issuance of search warrant to arrest them.

Charges for violation of R.A. 8294 were filed yesterday against the suspects, who are detained at the lock-up cell of San Carlos City Police Station. (MAP)
