CHARGES were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office (CPO) on Monday against a man and two women who allegedly tricked and robbed a woman at Laverna Hills in Buhangin in Davao City.
The suspects identified as Jesus Morata, Neneng Hao Morata, and Neneng Mahipus, were charged with robbery under the Revised Penal Code before the prosecution office, following their arrest last Sunday in Buhangin.
The victim was identified as Paulita Capilla Magada, 73, retired teacher, resident of Laverna Hills in Buhangin.
Initial investigation conducted by personnel of the Buhangin Police Station showed that the incident took place around 3:48 p.m. on Friday at Laverna overpass. It said two women, both around 50 years of age, befriended the victim and convinced her to ride a white old model car driven by a man.
According to the victim, they were heading to downtown when another woman boarded the car at Kilometer 6 near Sea Oil Gasoline Station, and when they reached near a bank at NHA Buhangin, the driver stopped the car and forcibly took her brown bag.
The driver searched the victim's bag and took her P58,000 cash intended for the groceries while the other suspects took her gold necklace worth P14,000, a wristwatch worth P15,000, two class rings and her wedding ring worth P5,000, and $20 US dollars and 105 Yen.
After the suspects took the victim's valuables and cash, the suspects dropped the latter 20 meters away from a bank in Buhangin and sped off to downtown area. The victim then asked for police assistance and positively identified the suspects through a rogue gallery.
The three suspects were arrested in a pursuit operation and are detained at the Buhangin Police Station for their proper disposition. But the police are still looking for the other suspect who last boarded the car. (ICT)
