JSY Transport routs Basecom, Trading demolishes Royal Star

JSY Transport defeated Basecom, 93-81 while AACI Trading demolished Royal Star Trading 93-65 in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. inter-color tournament in last Tuesday’s tussle at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

With the JSY Transport’s 4-2 victory, they still have a chance to notch one of the top two spots in the standings for an outright semifinals slot. Basecom dropped to sixth spot at 3-4.

Chibon Uy, Carlo Chu and Julius Teruel combined for 46 points to give JSY Transport a 58-40 advantage at the half. Basecom’s source of offense were delivered by its three-point shooters spearheaded by RJ Iligan, Chief Supt. Adonis Rosales, and Dr. Emil Guanzon for total of 26 points.

Ritchie Militante scored seven points in the third quarter to keep Basecom within striking distance of 74-60 even as Joseph Tiu also had seven points for JSY.

Rosales and Militante engineered a mini Basecom rally with their ten and eight points, respectively but Chu and Marc Lo answered the challenge to seal the victory for JSY.

Chu delivered a game-high 24 points while Tiu scored 20 points. Chibon Uy made 16 points, Teruel hit14 points, Marc Lo shot nine points and Ardian Ong contributed seven points.

Rosales paced Basecom with 18 points, Iligan picked up 16 points, Militante contributed 15points, and Guanzon scored 10 points.

In the second game was an encounter of two teams with opposite fortunes. AACI Trading improved to 4-2 after losing its first two games while Royal Star who won its first game is in danger of being booted out of the tourney at 1-5.

Royal Star Trading’s Eugene Tsai and Devin Villacruz combined for 13 points to put Royal Star on top in the opening quarter, 20-18 even as Robbie Jalandoon sunk three triples for 11 points.

Jeremy Coo and Andre Tan made five triples between them while JR Lacson and Brian Coo conspired for 14 points in the shaded area to grab the lead at the half 47-35.

The trio of Luigi Coo, Jalandoon and Lacson combined for 24 points to put some distance from Royal Star 71-51 at the end of the third canto. Johann Villanueva was the lone bright spot for Royal Star with 10 points in the quarter.

A balance offense by AACI Trading countered any Royal Star uprising as the lead ballooned to as high as more than 30 points.

Jalandoon and Luigi Coo propelled AACI Trading with 20 points each, Brian Coo and Lacson shot 14 points apiece, Jeremy Coo contributed 12 points, and Andre Tan had ten points.

Tsai picked up 23 points in a losing effort backstopped by Villanueva’s 20 points, Villacruz’s 10, and Timothy Chua’s six.
