Police collar gang leader

MABALACAT CITY -- The Pampanga Provincial Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) headed by Police Chief Inspector Heryl Bruno recently collared a gang leader in Mabalacat City.

In a report furnished Sun.Star Pampanga, Bruno said that a manhunt team supervised by Senior Superintendent Ismael Fernandez captured and arrested Servitozar Manalang Paniza, 40, the alleged and suspected leader of the notorious "Paniza" criminal gang.

The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Ma. Angelica Paras-Quiambao of the Regional Trial Court branch 59 in Angeles City. No bail was recommended.

"The operation was part of CIDG’s flagship campaign Oplan Salikop aimed against organized crime and criminal gangs and Oplan Pagtugis which is the CIDG's campaign aimed at neutralizing and arresting wanted persons," said Bruno.

The suspect is allegedly involved in kidnapping, carnapping, robbery/ holdup and drug pushing, Bruno said.

"The CIDG is intensifying its activities and anti-criminality as well as intelligence operations in hunting down wanted persons and the public can be assured that the CIDG will not rest until all wanted persons and criminal gangs are neutralized and brought to justice. We will find ways and means to capture them," Bruno said. (Ashley Dela Peña)
