THE police made another bust yesterday afternoon, which resulted in the arrest of nine persons and confiscation of P430,000 worth of marijuana and shabu.

The City Intelligence Branch (CIB) and the City Anti-illegal Drug Special Operations Task Force (CAIDSOTF) conducted the buy-bust in Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City at 4:45 p.m.

Subjects of the operation were Henry Monterde and Darwin Tibay, who are allegedly known drug personalities in Sitio Torre, Barangay Inayawan.

Operatives seized 24 kilos of dried marijuana reportedly worth P240,000; 15,000 rolled marijuana sticks valued at P150,000; 100 small packs of shabu worth P30,000 and a medium pack of the same drug worth P10,000.

Tibay eluded the arrest, while Monterde and eight others were caught.

Caught rolling

The eight, who were caught in the act making marijuana sticks, were Vincent Blarusan, 21; Andrey Salonon,19; Ramil delbo, 30; Efren Satore, 36; Felix Tabal, 22; Mike Delicano, 18; Nelson Cantutay, 48; and Epe Torrejas, 24.

CIB Chief Romeo Santander told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday that Tibay is reportedly in their drug watch list and is reportedly a drug lord.

Monterde is allegedly the right-hand of Tibay.

During the buy-bust, a poseur buyer bought a pack of shabu from Monterde. When the suspect handed the drugs over, police then arrested him.

Santander said based on their investigation, the group usually sells marijuana to students. The marijiuana is sold at about P10 per stick.

“We are still checking where they're selling these,” Santander said.

High school and college students are usual customers of the drug group, which reportedly got the marijuana in Balamban.

A case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 will be filed against the nine suspects, who are currently detained in the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) stockade.

The operation came barely two days after successive operations by law enforcement agencies resulted in the seizure of nearly P10 million worth of shabu.
