The Philippine Stagers Association headed by lawyer Vincent Tanada recently performed in Davao City and Davao del Sur where teachers and students throughout Region 11 were able to witness ‘Bonifacio, Isang Sarsuwela. The official Facebook Page of DepEd Region 11 gathered reactions about their impressions of the play made possible through former Regional Director Gloria D. Benigno, Education Support and Services Division led by OIC-Chief Dr. Mariblanca Piatos, Values Education Supervisor and Peace Coordinator Warlito E. Hua and the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies headed by DPWH Regional Director Mariano Alquiza. Here are their comments:

It is a nice play which not just igniting our interests in Bonifacio's life but it arouses also our interests in the real meaning of revolution by an act of Katipunan! Bonifacio, Isang Sarsuwela is not a local type of play but actually an international taste of a play, it can be proud of that Filipinos can do this kind of wonderful play. This Sarsuwela is the real mirror of our history, our culture, our tradition and even our life as free Filipinos. The sarsuwela can be co-produced for international screening. You will be amazed, you will cry, and you really feel FREEDOM! - Joveth G. Tubiano, Teacher 1, Mariano Peralta National High School, Malita, Davao Occidental

Bonifacio's life showed to me that a hero doesn't have to be a know it all but rather a man whose principles are centered solely to his great love for his God and country. His death may mean nothing to the young nowadays but his burning desire to fight for freedom for his country still lives on to those whose hearts are not yet corrupted by their selfish desires and self gratification. It is in this context that I consider him not only as my hero but my inspiration to better my craft as a public school teacher. Besides, who wouldn't love an underdog? - Mr. Rommel A. Maglantay, Teacher II, Pablo Lorenzo National High School, Mandug , Davao City.

As one of the witnesses of this play is such a pleasure. Nowadays, we have better books and blogs to read, movies and documentaries to watch.

But nothing compares to an excellent live performance with dedicated cast and passionate drama. "Bonifacio- Isang Sarsuwela" allows Filipinos nowadays to learn in applying in ourselves real nationalism and serving God as well. It inspires individuals especially us, in a new generation to establish love for our country. This play shows what a leader is made up of. He is not selfish, he has the gift of acceptance, he swallows his pride, is brilliant, is humble and God-fearing. Andres Bonifacio is a leader. Even though I am not that knowledgeable about the whole, detailed story of his patriotism, I can say that his death is still worth it. This Sarsuwela and citizens with genuine heart of a Filipino made it so to be. A performance in emotion and motion is something to be proud of. - Cameelle Joy Suarez, student, Davao City.

- Theresa Malabarbas, Teacher Applicant- LGU Paid Teacher, New Bataan.

"The show is great. The goal of the play was vividly expressed in every performance. I am looking forward for another play as informative as Bonifacio. Congratulations!!!" – Visitacion Geonzon, Hagonoy II Teacher, Guihing CES
