Comelec urges Dingalan youth to register

DINGALAN -- The Commission on Elections is calling on Dingalan youth aged 18 and above to register so they could exercise their rights to vote in the 2016 presidential elections. Election Officer Eric Avellaneda said that their office is open from Monday to Friday for new voters, those who are transferring from one precinct to another, reactivation, deletion of demised voters and biometrics acquisition. Around 9.6 million registered voters have not undergone biometrics processing, but the Comelec here said that registration will be until October 31, 2015.

rMSAG distributes coconut seedling to Labuyo survivors

BALER -- The Multi-Sectoral Action Group (MSAG) of Aurora province through its Taskforce Pag-asa recently distributed some 1,000 coconut seedlings to Casiguran folks who were affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Labuyo last year. MSAG Secretary-General Alfonso Van Zijl said that 25 holders of the Integrated Social Forest Program in Barangay San Ildefonso benefited from the seedlings, which came from Barangay Dibaraybay in Dinalungan. The MSAG earlier distributed construction materials for houses, vegetable seedlings to farmers and nets for fishermen. The MSAG Task Force Pag-Asa is composed of the Bataris Formation Center, Justice and Peace Action Group, Panlalawigang Alyansa ng mga Magbubukid sa Aurora, and Alternatibong Kalusugan sa Pamayanan ng Aurora.

Bataan cancels classes

BALANGA CITY -- Classes in all levels in Bataan, both public and private, were suspended Tuesday, August 5. This is as per advisory of Governor Albert Garcia following the orange warning level raised by Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration in Bataan, which means flooding is still a threat.

Government allots P8.2-million for road repairs

MALOLOS -- The National Government has earmarked some P8.2 million for the repair of roads in inner barangays of this city. Mayor Christian Natividad said the allocation came from the Special Local Roads Fund, which the city was granted after it was conferred the Seal of Good Housekeeping by the Department of Interior and Local Government. The repairs will include asphalting of roads from the Sta. Rita exit of the North Luzon Expressway to Barangay ng Ligas, Bungahan, Sumapang Bata Sumapang Matanda, Malolos-Plaridel Road and Sto. Rosario going to Kapitangan. Each was allocated P2 million in funds. Meanwhile, another P3.7 million has been allocated for the asphalting of the Malolos-Paombong and Hagonoy-Calumpit roads.

Bomb threat suspends work at Nueva Ecija Capitol

CABANATUAN CITY -- Police here advised Tuesday Novo Ecijanos going to Capitol to refrain from proceeding there for their transactions following a bomb threat. Cabanatuan Police said they received information about a bomb in the Old Capitol Compound around 9 a.m. All government employees were told to vacate the premises and stop working while civilians were barred from entering the compound until the police declares it clear. No information has been released yet at press time.

rPDRRMC on blue alert

TARLAC CITY -- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) here is still on Blue Alert status to closely monitor the situation and any untoward incident brought by Typhoon Jose and southwest monsoon. It has dispatched its Disaster and Response Team (DART) for clearing operations inside the Luisita Industrial Park, along Hacienda Luisita Road leading to SCTEX Luisita Toll Gate. Per DOST Flood Bulletin of Agno and allied river basins, slow rise of tributaries Tarlac and Camiling rivers are expected, if heavy rainfall will continue. Flooding is expected to occur in the low-lying areas of San Manuel, Tarlac City, Gerona, Moncada, Paniqui, Sta. Ignacia, and Camiling.
