3 Central Luzon barangays bag National LTIA awards

THREE barangays in Central Luzon emerged as National Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentive Award (LTIA) winners for CY 2013 in the recently concluded nationwide LTIA assessment this year.

The Department of Interior and Local Government Central Luzon Office identified the villages as Barangay Cataning, Balanga City, national awardee for the component city category; Barangay Kitang II/Luz, Limay, Bataan, national awardee for the first to third class municipality category and Barangay East Bajac-Bajac, Olongapo City, first runner-up for the Highly Urbanized City (HUC) Category.

Barangays Cataning and Kitang II/Luz will receive cash awards of P300,000 each while Barangay East Bajac-Bajac will receive an amount of P100,000.

Central Luzon has been consistent in hurdling national LTIA awards.

Last year, Barangay Tuyo in Balanga City was accorded a National Hall of Fame LTIA award for CY 2012 in the component city category while Barangay East Bajac-Bajac was second runner-up in the HUC category.

The DILG said the LTIA was established pursuant to Section 406 (b) of the Local Government Code (LGC) of 1991, which mandates the DILG to grant economic and other incentives to Lupong Tagapamayapa that demonstrates exemplary performance in settling disputes at the grassroots level particularly in attaining the objectives of the Katarungang Pambarangay.
