Chance for Cebu

THE Cebu Volleyball community is excited for the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference on July 5 at the Mandaue Sports and Cultural Complex in Mandaue City.

The league will give Cebuanos the chance to watch three fellow Cebuanos playing for team Cignal HD against Systema Active in the men’s division and their favorite pro women’s players in the Air Asia.com vs. Petron match.

The three Cebuanos are Kent Boyd Abunda of University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R), Emmanuel Marlon Luces of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and Mike Abria of the University of the Visayas (UV).

For former UV beach player Jade Becaldo, who won two National Nestea Beach volleyball titles with Abria, aside from watching pro games, it will also be a chance for Cebu enthusiasts to learn from the best.

“Maayo na gidala ang Superliga diri sa Cebu. A good opportunity nga makakita pud ang mga hilig ug volleyball sa Cebu ug higher level of competition and it would probably give Cebu an idea to put a solid All-Cebuano team in the future to play in the Superliga,” said Becaldo.

Loujie Tipgos, a former USJ-R volleyball player, is also looking forward to watching the tournament and believes it’s an opportunity for the present varsity players to learn from the pros.

“Great opportunity para sa mga varsity players. It’s not all about playing man pud, kay naa man pud work while playing. It’s an inspiration sa mga bata pa og usa pud ni maka motivate sa mga players na maningkamot para makaabot ana nga liga,” said Tipgos.
