A SUSPECTED drug pusher is facing additional charges before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) after he was also arrested for illegal possession of firearms in a police buy-bust at Upper Piedad in Barangay Bato in Toril, Davao City on June 7.
Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is Dave Barrios Pavico, 30.
He was charged after getting arrested in an operation launched by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Davao City led by Senior Inspector Francis Sonza.
Police report revealed that the operation took place at around 5 p.m. Cops collared Pavico when the latter handed out one plastic sachet containing shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for the P500 marked money.
Upon conducting a search on the suspect, they also recovered three more sachets of shabu and a caliber .45 pistol with four live ammos. When asked if the suspect had any supporting documents for his firearm, he didn't have any, thus, police were compelled to file additional charges.
Pavico is currently detained at the CIDG detention facility in the Davao City Police Office Headquarters while the recovered illegal drugs and firearm were submitted for examination at the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory 11.
It will be later used as evidence against the suspect during court proceedings.
