Porac gets P3M for agriculture programs

PORAC -- The Municipal Government of Porac received P3 million from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) under the Grassroots Participatory Process (GPP), formerly called Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB).

The fund is part of the P15-million in funds for various social and government programs and projects that the municipality has tried to avail early this year.

The P3-million fund is part of the agricultural component of the approved proposal.

The funds have been made available through the Department of Agriculture in Pampanga headed by regional Director Andrew Villacorta.

Dela Cruz said that they are now looking on the purchase of equipment and materials for the use of cooperatives and farmers in Porac town.

Dela Cruz said that the funds would greatly contribute to their government programs for Porac and an addition to the recent winnings of the town in financial management.

The DILG announced last February that Porac is one of the local government units in this province to receive the much-coveted Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) Award.

Dela Cruz said the award only proves that his administration is serious with its transparency and good governance stance.

He added that they are also hoping for the approval of the other component proposals.

The budgeting will include infrastructure programs, social development and poverty alleviation among others.

He added that the town will continuously aspire for better government service through transparency and good governance.

The Municipality of Porac, a consistent Good Financial Housekeeping passer for two years, may now access the said amount for projects here.

The Performance Challenge Fund is an incentive fund to local government units (LGUs) in the form of counterpart funding to high-impact capital investment projects in the Annual Investment Program and the 20 percent Development Fund consistent with national priorities.

The PCF is open to all provinces, cities and municipalities awarded with the Seal of Good Housekeeping provided that the local government unit shall allocate a counterpart fund to implement capital investment projects aligned with the national development agenda and priorities.

Porac town was passer of the Seal of Good Housekeeping in 2012 and later the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in 2014, the prerequisites to qualify for the PCF.

The SGLG is given to LGUs with good performance in internal housekeeping, especially on sound fiscal management, transparency, accountability, and performance management.

The PCF is a subsidy that LGUs could use to finance economic development projects in their areas.
