Small Business Dev't Center around half full

AROUND half of the 33 office cubes in the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) have already been occupied as of Monday.

Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industries Inc. (DCCCII) acting executive director Mary Antonette Doromal, in a phone interview with Sun.Star Davao said those who have located in the SBDC includes self employed individuals, organizations, companies, and small medium enterprises.

Some of the identified locators include Google Business Club - Davao, Doc Joy Documentation and Consultancy, European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines - Davao, Schindler Philippines, Business and Entrepreneurial Training Academy (Beta), Solid Team Ad Pro, and Agdao Multi Purpose Cooperative.

Doromal said the Philippine Franchise Association will also be locating their Davao chapter in the SBDC.

There are also some individuals, like virtual assistants, who are utilizing the SBDC as their office area.

She said they are currently finalizing the list of locators in the SBDC.

The SBDC is a business unit of the DCCCII is aimed to facilitate and assist its local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startup businesses. The center will contain 33 office cubes and The Cube, a co-working space, as working spaces for locators.

It will also have an Asean Desk that will serve as a help desk that focuses on the needs of the members and other businesses in terms of readiness and preparation for the Asean Economic Convergence 2015.

The center will also provide trainings and seminars for SMEs and local businesses. The DCCCII and Beta recently introduced a series of trainings and seminars dubbed as "ExportAcademy.asia" which aims to equip SMEs and local businesses on exportation.
