Cabatingan’s office has tapped the assistance of the village officials for the implementation of Republic Act 10361 otherwise known as the “Domestic Workers Act” or “Batas Kasambahay.”
R.A. 10361, which is a consolidation of Senate Bill No. 78 and House Bill No. 6144, was finally passed by the Senate and the
House of Representatives on November 27, 2012 and November 26, 2012, respectively.
It was signed into a law by President Benigno Aquino III on January 18, 2013.
Cabatingan urged the employers to enroll with the SSS their respective household workers.
She said it is important to register the household workers for them to be entitled to receive other benefits such as pensions, disability pay, death and accident insurance.
Cabatingan said the employer, under R.A. 10361, is obligated to pay P230 monthly contribution if their household worker’s salary is P2,000 a month.
She said the P230 monthly contribution will be jointly shouldered at P115 each by the employer and employee if the household worker’s salary is P5,000 monthly.
