Police train Sta. Ana BPATs

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- The Pampanga Police on Tuesday conducted a seminar-workshop for the Sta. Ana Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPAT) to enhance their capabilities in community crime fighting.

During the seminar-workshop held at Shuttle Pro Grill and Resto Bar in Barangay San Juan, this town, Deputy Provincial Director for Administration Superintendent Alexander Mariano recognized the role of the BPATs and their importance as an added force to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

"BPATs function as auxiliary in community policing and law enforcement, in support during disaster relief retrieval rescue and rehabilitation operations, in support to conflict resolution in the barangay, in support to people organizations and environmental protection and conservation," he said.

Pampanga Police Provincial Office officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Marlon Madrid, for his part said that the enhancement seminar-workshop’s core concept is to let the community and citizens actively involve themselves in the PNP’s fight against criminality through BPATs. By conducting these trainings and seminars, the PNP helps improve the capabilities of our BPATs and result to a more effective and efficient community machinery policing and law enforcement.

“Public safety is a shared responsibility between the PNP and the community. Empowerment through proper and continuous training, the BPATs will greatly help in the preservation of peace and order situation in the province,” he said.

Madrid said the Sta. Ana BPATs was the eight training seminar conducted by PPPO and that another one will be conducted for the Guagua BPATs on June 26 to 27, 2014.

Police officials who conducted the seminar-workshop were Superintendent Juritz Rara (Overall Training Supervisor for BPATs), Chief Inspector Paul Gamido, (Chief of Police Sta. Ana MPS) and Chief Inspector Romero Balubal. Sta. Ana Mayor Rommel Concepcion also graced the event.
