2 divers bag 1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronzes in Singapore meet

TWO Davao City divers struck for one gold, one silver and three bronzes in the 2nd TYR Southeast Asian Swimming Championships at the OCBC Aquatic Center in Singapore on Tuesay.

Fabriga clinched a gold in men's 10-meter platform individual and a silver in 10m synchronized platform event.

His teammate Nino Carog salvaged bronzes in men's three-meter springboard individual and synchronized events and also in one-meter springboard indivual.

Dabawenya diver Jane Domenios, who made her international competition debut, placed sixth in women's three-meter springboard.

Domenios said she hopes to better her performance in future competitions.

Be-medaled Sheila Mae Perez and Ceseil Domenios didn't compete in the competition organized as part of Singapore's preparations for the 2015 Southeast Asian Games.

Fabriga, in a Facebook chat, said they still don't know if they will be sent to the Asian Games slated September 19 to October 4 in Incheon, Korea.

The Philippines failed to send the divers to the Myanmar SEA Games last year citing lack of training and exposure. The Singapore stint may be a step to reviving the national diving team. (MLSA)
