Rugby clinic set at City High

THE Davao Durians Rugby Football Club (DDRFC) will hold a two-session clinic at the Davao City National High School (DCNHS) on June 28 and July 5, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the DCNHS Field.

Philippine Rugby Football Union - Davao Region Rugby Development Officer Blessie Kate delos Reyes, in messages sent to Sun.Star Davao, said DCNHS was chosen by the club since it hasn't formed its rugby foootball team yet.

"Actually dugay na ni na plano para sa mga DCNHS students kay dugay na sila nagahost sa among mga events so sila na pud among tabangan (It has been planned by our club to conduct a rugby football clinic for DCNHS students. Since the venue of our rugby football events are usually held at their campus, we decided to give them back the favor)," she said.

The club organized this clinic to form a student-bannered rugby football team as DCNHS' alumni already have a rugby football team.

She said the initial plan was to hold four sessions but they agreed to cut it to two sessions due to conflict of schedules.

PRFU and the DDDRFC will spearhead the clinic.

The first session is orientation on basic ball handling and running with the ball while the rules of the game will be tackled in the second session.

Friendly games will then wrap up the clinic.

Delos Reyes said they are helping DCNHS to be ready for the Kadayawan rugby football tournament in August.
