Cesafi looks to hook up with DepEd

THE Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) is planning to partner with the Department of Education in an effort to uplift the sports program of the public schools.

On the organization sponsored seminar last weekend at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu gym, Cesafi is bound to accept challenge of Cebu City Sports Commission chairman Edward Hayco, to impart their technologies to the public school coaches, who have little to no access to the technologies and techniques that the private schools are enjoying.

SHS-AdC athletic director Rico Navarro said that they just need to fine-tune the details as they received positive feedback from school heads.

For now Cesafi is trying to identify the public school, which they will try to provide with the technologies to better their sports program.

“Maybe we can start slowly with one or two sport at a time. (But) we can start with the go signal of the school heads,” Navarro added.

If this project will push through, Cesafi coaches will transfer knowledge by training trainors and physical education teachers of its adopted public school, especially the elementary levels.

Aside from challenging Cesafi to help public schools, the Cebu City sports czar also dared the private schools to help each other and mold a Cebuano Olympic athlete.
