Tesda, Yokohama Tires conduct skills matching

THE regional Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, in partnership with the Yokohoma Tire Philippines Inc., held a skills matching and recruitment caravan for skilled Cordillerans in the Summer Capital June 25 to June 26.

YTPI sought to provide "long term quality jobs" for electrical engineers, industrial engineers, chemical engineers, electronics and communications engineers, human resource practitioners, accountants, production supervisors, and production operators.

Senior supervisor of YTPI Mary Sharon San Juan said although they will be continuously hiring applicants for the above positions, they are immediately hiring civil and mechanical engineers, accounting supervisors, clerks and assistants.

Opportunities for the applicants include a regular quality job, above minimum salary and performance-based and based-up benefits.

Section manager Egelberto Dolo revealed the recruitment caravan targets Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija and other neighboring provinces but went to the region first with the perception that Cordillerans are hardworking, dedicated and punctual based on their employees that are from the region.

He added although 90 percent of their manpower are composed of men, he said they wish to employ more skilled women in production, inspection and finishing as they are scrupulous and perfectionists.

He said the company is seeking more skilled Filipinos because the firm has expanded.

The company targets to employ around 5,000 skilled workers by 2017 to achieve production of around 50,000 quality tires per day.

The company currently produces 13 to 18 inches tire sizes at an average of 19,600 tires per day.

With some 2,080 regular employees, the plant can even produce up to 22,000 tires per day.

Some 5 percent of the products made by the YTPI are marketed in the country while 95 percent are exported out of the country.

Dolo reported the company may set another schedule of recruitment caravan in CAR and in other neighboring provinces.

Interested applicants may also walk in at IE 5, Clark Freeport Zone Philippines or submit their resume to recruitment@typi.com.

The minimum qualifications are at least high school graduate for team members with ages 20 to 30 years old; and 30 to 40 years old for supervisory positions, preferably with experience.

Yokohoma Tire Philippines, Inc. is a subsidiary of the Yokohoma Rubber Company partnered with JFE Shoji Trade Corporation in Japan located in Clark Freeport Zone Philippines.
