Police: Lawyer's killer set to surrender

DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) Director Vicente D. Danao Jr. said he received information that the person behind the murder of lawyer Emmanuel Ledesma Acuña Jr. will surrender soon.

"Lulutang na daw ang alleged gunman," Danao announced during the 6th General Membership Meeting of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industries at Seda Abreeza Hotel on Friday.

He said they are hoping to solve the case anytime soon and have their hopes up that the one who will be turning himself in will be the real gunman.

Acuña, who used to serve at the public attorney's office, was shot in Lanang, Davao City on May 30 after sending off his girlfriend at the parking area of a bank. The victim sustained wound in his head and died at the hospital last Sunday.

A Special Investigation Task Force was created to investigate the death of Acuña.

The task group, headed by DCPO, is composed of men from Davao City Deputy for Operations, Investigation and Detection Management Branch, Intelligence Group and Sasa Police Station, and Davao Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit. (RJFL)
