REAL estate developer Primary Homes Inc. (PHI) is pioneering a “beachfront walk-up condominium” concept in the countryside with the launching of The Tropical Flats in Argao.

The new condo project is located within Argao Royal Palms, a 2.9-hectare beachfront house and lot development. PHI owns a four-hectare property in Argao, for which the company is earmarking P500 million for development costs.

In a recent press conference, Ramiro Espina, vice-president for sales and marketing of PHI, said they duplicated the walk-up condo concept from Banawa to Argao, on the back of the booming tourism industry in the southern part of Cebu and in response to the demand from foreigners who want to settle in the countryside and prefer seaside living.

But unlike the garden walk-up condo concept in the city, Espina said, The Tropical Flats will be known as “beachfront walk-ups” or “vacation condos.”

The Tropical Flats is a three-cluster, three-level condo project with a total of 36 units. There will be 12 units per floor. It will offer studio and one-bedroom condo units, with sizes from 22 square meters (sq.m.) to 34 sq.m. Each unit will have its own parking space.

The condo unit’s price starts at P1.4 million. The project is expected to be completed by 2016.

Espina said they are confident the new condo concept would be well accepted by the market, given the project’s prime location.

“Argao is the gateway to heritage sites and eco-tourism sites in the southern part of Cebu. Our investment in the area is a preparation for the anticipated high growth in tourism in the south,” said Espina. He mentioned nearby tourism sites like Kawasan Falls, Moalboal diving spots, Oslob whale-watching, the Simala shrine in Sibonga and Cebu’s vegetable basket in Dalaguete, which are now gaining popularity among local and foreign tourists.

“This development is perfect for retirees, foreigners and for Cebuanos who would want an affordable vacation home,” said Michelle Cutang, marketing manager of PHI.

Residents at Tropical Flats and the Argao Royal Palms will have shared amenities like an infinity pool, clubhouse, aqua golf driving range and manicured gardens. The project is managed by an ISO-certified property management team.
