CSF convenes water board

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) together with other government officials convened the City of San Fernando Water Resources Management Board (CSFWRMB) at the City Hall here last Friday.

The CSFWRMB is responsible for maintaining the rehabilitation of the San Fernando River and other water resources like ground and surface waters.

According to Public Services Officer III Elizabeth Bungad, the first mission of the CSFWRMB is to reconvene the participating members of the board who will create programs that will help in preserving the San Fernando River.

"The members of the board were chosen based on their capacity to rehabilitate the bodies of water in the city. These chosen members are also the ones equipped to plan the necessary actions to maintain the river," said Bungad.

She added that the members of the board come from CENRO, San Fernando Water District, Sangguniang Bayan, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the City Council’s committee on environment headed by Councilor BJ Lagman and other city government officials.

Bungad said once they complete the master plan, they can restore the bodies of river to their original state which is garbage-free.

She pointed out that one of their goals in rehabilitating the river is for it to become a tourist spot and boost the city’s tourism industry.

The CSFWRMB will soon look over other development projects of the city relevant to the preservation of bodies of water in San Fernando.
