TIME and time again Genesis Servania has been tested against world class oppositions to prove if he is the real deal.
He has proven that he is, thus far.
Another world-caliber opponent is being thrown his way to test where he fares among the top dogs in the stacked super bantamweight division.
The 22-year-old Servania headlines the first Pinoy Pride show overseas along with fellow unbeaten prospect Arthur Villanueva and the ever popular Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista.
Servania defends his World Boxing Organization (WBO) Inter-Continental super bantamweight belt against former world title challenger Jose Cabrera in the main event of Pinoy Pride 27 – “Duel Dubai” on Aug. 29 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Dubai.
“We heard he is a very good fighter and comes to fight. It means a lot to Servania to prepare him for a title shot,” ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu.
The 27-year-old Cabrera fought for a world title in 2012, but bowed down to World Boxing Organization Omar Narvaez by unanimous decision.
He won back-to-back fights against unheralded opponents before losing to former world champion Tomas Rojas by an eighth round stoppage last May.
Despite his recent slump, Cabrera still has impressive credentials with a 22-4-2 record including 10 knockouts. (EKA)
