Vipers turn back Stallions, 61-59

DEFENDING champions Aegis Vipers rallied in the final period to score a thrilling 61-59 win over the Lexmark Stallions’s in the ongoing 2014 CSCC E-Leagues Season 10 elimination round held at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

In the other games, the Xerox Knights scored their second win, 55-47, over Kyocera Frontiers; the Accenture Sharks regained their killer instinct to gobble the hapless Calltek Trojans; and the Teleperformance Kings waylaid Job Target Bandits, 71-45.

Aegis started slow in the first half, allowing Lexmark to build a 16-8 lead in the first quarter before making it 31-22 at halftime.

The Vipers crawled back to life in the third period before taking over the lead for good by outscoring the Stallions 21-16.

Ryan Veloso had a double-double performance as he scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Dean Junber Escalon added 10 points. The win earned Aegis a share of early leadership with its victims at 3-1.

Sylvester Millevo topscored with 18 points, Niel Tiempo added 14 and Ralph Martinez made 11 points as Lexmark saw its three-game winning streak snapped.

Meanwhile, Xerox banked on the double-double performance of Earvin Ferraren, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jason Rosafa also added 10 points for the team’s second win in three games. Ariel Edera scored 17 points in Kyocera’s first loss in two games.
