Nostalgic DavNor DepED Night

Director's Cut: (This portion features the thoughts of DepED 11 OIC Regional Director Nenita E. Lumaad, CSEE to all stakeholders and recipients of the efforts to improve the basic education) "You have to be familiar with all the programs and projects of our organization and you have to be accountable to each one. There should be sense of urgency in whatever you do."

After eight years of being here in Davao City, I had a chance to join DepED Night in Davao del Norte as part of the province's Kadagayaan Festival to celebrate its 47th Araw ng Davao del Norte.

That night, June 27, was significant because I considered it as my first official function as part of my new assignment in the Division of Panabo City though I'll be formally reporting there on July 2, this year.

I was with my mother, three nieces, sisters, and in laws and joined in a dinner paid for by sis Melanie at the back of the main grandstand of the world class Sports Complex, probably the home of the next Palarong Pambansa.

After that simple 'salo-salo', I was able to meet Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario, Board Member Alan Dujali and Sto. Tomas Mayor Benigno Andamon who sat two tables away from ours. Governor del Rosario even jestingly said that he was supposed to hire me as his PIO but said he is happy seeing me as part of DepED family.

Going back to the DepED night, I was very happy to meet my former co-teachers from Tagum City NHS and my co-supervisors and school heads of Tagum City Division where I was assigned as teacher and supervisor prior to my stint in DepED Region XI. Of course, I was delighted to meet some of the supervisors and school heads from Panabo City who greeted me that night and we had some sort of 'meet and greet'. Early comers that night were Manoy Jaime Carlom and fastly recovering Igso Neil Michael de Asis who brought his signature apparel, his DSLR camera.

I also spotted some supervisors and school heads from Davao del Norte Division headed by ASDS Winnie Batoon who together with me stayed until the last presentation and even joined the students in their finale dance number. I spotted OIC Chiefs Virginia Perandos, Eduard Amoguis and EPS Rebecca Sagot and Dr. Concesa Lanoy from Tagum City.

It was a night that showcased the singing, dancing and musical instrument playing prowess of schools in the four schools divisions of the Province of Davao del Norte namely IGACOS, Panabo City, Tagum City and Davao del Norte implementing Special Program in the Arts Curriculum. They are Kapalong NHS, Sto. Tomas NHS, Tagum City NCHS, Panabo NHS and Samal NHS.

I have also seen familiar faces of supervisors/coordinators of SPA Program in the Division namely Liezl Moquia, Darwin Joseph Suyat and Romulo Eliseo and of course the production staff headed by Leigh Jay Cubar.

It was an unforgettable evening, my first after eight years, of camaraderie and entertainment that I missed doing while I was out from Davao del Norte.

It is nice to be back to a place where my career blossomed from Teacher I to Master Teacher, Division Coordinator and Division Supervisor.

I would like to thank Ma'am Memia Infiesto, Principal III of Panabo City with her family for a ride going to Panabo City where I waited for a public transport going back to Davao City.

To God be the glory!
