Trade mission to Manado set, July 17

THE Mindanao Development Authority (Minda) will be organizing a trade mission for Mindanao businessmen to Manado, Indonesia on July 17.

Romeo Montenegro, Mindanao Development Authority (Minda) director of investment promotions and public affairs, on told reporters the main purpose of the trip will be for the businessmen, mostly from General Santos City and Davao City, to meet their Indonesian counterparts to firm up and finalize details of products that will be shipped via the Davao City-General Santos City-Tahuna-Bitung sea route.

Montenegro said products that will be mostly shipped from Mindanao are food and agricultural products. There are also industrial products like cement and fertilizers. Fish is also being eyed as a product to be exported to Indonesia.

He said products coming from Indonesia will most likely comprise of industrial products.

The Davao City-General Santos City-Tahuna-Bitung sea route is a private-led sea route. The operations of the sea route has been targeted to begin on July 18.

Montenegro said the first shipment from Indonesia will mostly be empty containers which will be positioned in the ports of Davao City and General City to be used for future shipments. The return trip to Indonesia will now be the first batch of products that will be exported from Mindanao.
