GLOBE Telecom on Saturday said the number of its prepaid subcribers in Mindanao has been growing by 10-12 percent, registering around 2.2 million to date.

At the press launch of Globe's latest social media campaign called #WonderfulMindaNOW at Seda Hotel Saturday, Raymond Policarpio, head of prepaid portfolio of Globe, said these young subscribers aged from 18 to 25 years old have been driving the telecom's growth on the island.

In the previous years, the telecom only managed to post an average of two percent growth but with the massive developments going on around Mindanao, especially in governance and business sector, Globe now enjoys a double digit growth.

He added Mindanao is also the fastest-growing region in terms of internet penetration apparently due to high demand for smartphones in which prepaid subscribers use to access the internet.

"Globe wants to be a serious player in Mindanao. As Globe grows, we want to grow with Mindanao," he said.

The #WonderfulMindaNOW, the latest social media campaign of Globe, came into being primarily to change the image of Mindanao by highlighting the wonderful spots and the tourist attractions on the island.

In a press briefer, it said using the social media hashtag #WonderfulMindaNOW, stickers are to be stamped on any chosen spot, place, or location in Mindanao and shared via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, exposing Mindanao's rich culture and heritage to the rest of the world.

Its successful offering of Mindanao-exclusive GoUNLI20Plus complements well the campaign since the promo allows prepaid subscribers of 20MB of data mobile surfing aside from the unlimited calls to Globe/TM, and 50 texts to all networks for only P20 a day.

"We want want to be part of Mindanao and share wonderful things about Mindanao," he said."What we want to provide for subscribers is to share moments, places, and things."

Globe already recorded a total of 500 posts since the campaign was rolled out online about more than a week ago.
