Sta. Ana cops to file drug raps vs men, boy

PERSONNEL of the Sta. Ana Police Station are set to file charges today before the City Prosecution Office against three suspects, including a 12-year-old boy, who were arrested in a buy-bust operation.

The two adult suspects were identified as one Mohamad Amin Norain Ibrahim Manabilang, alias Amin; Hazel Vilianal Aziz, both residents of Barangay 23-C, Boulevard, Davao City.

The three will be charged for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or "The Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002". Recovered from their possession is a small sachet of suspected shabu and P500 marked money.

Initial investigation conducted by Senior Inspector Lennie L. Ronquillo, intelligence officer of the Sta. Ana police, showed that the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation at Ramon Magsaysay Park in Davao City on Saturday around 6 p.m.

Ronquillo said it was learned that Mark was being used as the courier of the two, adding that they were arrested after the boy handed the sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer.

The boy was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), while Manabilang and Aziz are now temporarily detained at the Sta. Ana Police Station.

The authorities had earlier rescued three minors being used as illegal drug couriers and seized around 50 grams of suspected shabu in two separate buy-bust operations in Davao City. The youngest is 9-year-old.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 11 director Senior Supt. Joel Pernito earlier said that such kind of situation is quiet alarming, as drug syndicates are already utilizing children to carry out their activities.
