SSS, DSWD sign MOU

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Social Security System (SSS) have forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the institutionalization of the AlkanSSSya Program.

SSS-Zamboanga Branch Head Elizabeth Cabatingan said the MOU, which was signed last week, is aimed to intensify coverage and social security protection for all DSWD’s contractual and Job-Order workers through easy and more convenient accumulation of savings for the SSS monthly contribution payments.

Cabatingan said the DSWD has signified its intention to participate and assist the SSS in the implementation of the AlkanSSSya Program to give full support to the coverage of personnel as self-employed member under the Social Security Law.

The monthly contribution of each DSWD personnel is P330 provided that the regular and associate members of the DSWD may increase their contributions to a higher bracket as stipulated in the MOU, said Cabatingan.

She said the AlkanSSSya Program shall benefit personnel to have protection against hazards of disability, sickness, maternity, old age, death and other contingencies that the SSS offers.

Cabatingan signed the MOU representing SSS and the other signatory is DSWD Regional Director Zenaida Arevalo.
