Benguet’s most wanted collared

BENGUET'S top most wanted criminal was collared by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group last week.

CIDG-North Central Luzon operatives led by Chief Inspector Roland Culiao with Benguet cops arrested Dominador Abenes Jr., 23, tagged by authorities as the province’s top most wanted criminal on June 30, in sitio Marangad, a mining community in Brgy Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya.

Abenes is wanted for allegedly raping a girl right in her grandfather’s house in Abatan, Buguias town in Benguet two years ago.

Abenes, a native of Aringay, La Union, was working under a sub-contractor of the FCF Mining Corporation.

Regional Trial Court branch 64 Judge Agapito Laoagan in Abatan, Benguet was convinced by Abenes’ victim that he raped her twice, ordering authorities a year ago to hunt down the alleged rapist and try him in court.

In another operation, the CIDG tracked down and arrested another wanted criminal, Erick Punasen, also wanted for a rape charge.

CIDG-NCL regional officer Sr. Supt. Jimmy Catanes said detectives led by Inspector Wenceslao Tabangcura aided by Benguet policemen trapped Punasen at the Slaughter compound in Baguio City.
