THE Davao City Pasalubong Center located along Palma Gil St. will be temporarily closed to public after the celebration of Kadayawan sa Dabaw this year.
Assistant city administrator for operations lawyer Jhopee Avanceña-Agustin, who is also the acting manager of the City Economic Enterprise (CEE), said the City Engineer's Office (CEO) will make some renovations on the two-storey building.
The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) will transfer its office from Magsaysay Park to the second floor of the Pasalubong Center once the renovations have been completed. The second floor is 400 square meters in area.
"They will be occupying a small space doon tapos yung ibang space will be for lease. We are planning gawin siyang booking offices ng mga travel agencies at iba pa," Agustin told Sun.Star Davao in an interview yesterday.
She said that more than 30 tenants who are currently occupying the first floor of the center will be asked to temporarily stop their businesses while the CEO will renovate the building.
"Instead of closing them now, hihintayin na lang nating matapos ang Kadayawan. Kawawa naman din kung i-close agad. Pagbigyan natin sila until matapos ang Kadayawan," she said.
The Pasalubong Center is a one-stop-shop for proudly Davao-made quality products such as handicrafts, processed food, fashion accessories, souvenir and gift items, home decors, indigenous costumes and native accessories, fruits and flowers, among others, at very affordable rates using locally or internationally sourced materials as well as indigenous and recyclable materials.
The center was initially opened to the public in December 2011 during the Pasko Fiesta sa Dabaw and had its grand opening on March 2012 in time for the 75th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.
