Transport group hits BTAO for non-deployment of traffic aide

THE head of the Sentrong Samahang Tsuper at Operators-Negros said that Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) head Reynaldo Ebreo should resign from his office for not giving attention to their complains.

Nilo Frias said for several times that they have been complaining to BTAO as well as to the City Council about their problems on the erring drivers in the north terminal plying Bacolod-Talisay route, who park and pick up passengers under the flyover and U-turn slot in Bangga Pepsi, Brgy. Bata.

He said they are also asking the BTAO to deploy traffic enforcers in order to regulate the acts of the erring drivers, but until now their concern was not given attention by Ebreo.

Since August 4 until now, there has been no traffic aide in the area, he said. This resulted to several drivers having arguments because of the unregulated parking area.

Ebreo admitted that they stopped the deployment of traffic enforcers in the north terminal due to the lack of BTAO personnel.

They are prioritizing the deployment of traffic enforcers in the major streets of Bacolod due to the implementation of the no- travel policy on the tricycle and trisikads, especially along Lacson and Araneta streets.

Ebreo added that the BTAO concentrates also in the downtown area because of the traffic congestion there, cause by drivers unloading and loading in the non-designated areas.

Both Frias and Ebreo confirmed that several meetings and even public hearing were conducted but still the problem remains unresolved. (CNC)
