THE Department of Education (DepEd) and the local government units (LGUs) of the Typhoon Glenda-affected areas announced Tuesday the class and work suspension in anticipation to the effects of the typhoon.

The Cebu Provincial Government also announced that the Department of Education suspended classes in elementary and secondary levels in all public schools in the province today, July 15.
The LGU of Quezon City also cancelled work for government employees for July 16 while the National University also cancelled office operations for Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) cancelled several flights including those bound for Manila, Dipolog, Xiamen, Cotabato, Caticlan, Cagayan de Oro, Hong Kong, Incheon, Kalibo, Tacloban, Kuala Lumpur, Puerto Princesa, Masbate, Naga and Legazpi.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) cancelled sea travels in the eastern seaboards of Luzon and Visayas due to the waves that may be generated by the typhoon.
As of 12 noon, Tuesday, the PCG said there were approximately 6,342 passengers, 634 rolling cargoes, 34 vessels and 11 motor bancas stranded in ports in Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Masbate, Batangas, Mamburao, Calapan, Lucena, Romblon, Catbalogan and Tacloban.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's (Pagasa) latest weather bulletin, the provinces of Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur and Burias and Ticao Islands in Luzon and Northern Samar in Visayas are now under public storm warning signal number 3 (101 -185 kilometers per hour winds).
Under storm warning signal 2 (61-100 kph winds) are the provinces of Camarines Norte, Masbate, Marinduque, Quezon including Polillo Islands, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Samar and Eastern Samar.
Under storm warning signal 1 (30-60 kph winds) are the provinces of Romblon, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Lubang Island, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Aurora Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, La Union and Northern Leyte including Biliran Island. (Sunnex)
