DAP-funded projects in Western Visayas mostly completed

ILOILO CITY – Projects funded by the Disbursement Acceleration Fund (DAP) of President Benigno Aquino III in Western Visayas region are mostly completed and used by the recipients, according to Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Director Edilberto Tayao.

Tayao said the DAP releases were also intended as financial subsidies to priority programs and projects of the local government units to augment existing programs for scholarship, hospitalization and other health services.

Tayao said that aside from the P100-million housing relocation site known as the Iloilo River Plains Subdivision Phase I in Barangay Lanit, Jaro district, DAP also funded projects such as the P450-million Jalaur River Multi-purpose Project (JRMP) Stage II and several state colleges and universities in the region.

The biggest state school beneficiary is the West Visayas State University in Iloilo City with P17-million DAP fund for the construction of ICT building.

The rest of state schools received from P3 million to P5 million to fund their school projects. (Lydia C. Pendon)
