8 wanted persons in Cordillera nabbed

EIGHT out of Cordillera Administrative Region's top 10 most wanted persons were arrested during the first half of the year, the Police Regional Office – Cordillera reported.

Regional Investigation Division chief Senior Superintendent George Daskeo, during a weekly kapihan, said they were able to capture eight most wanted persons including the region’s top most wanted person while the fourth and sixth still elude arrest.

Daskeo said most of the arrested persons were nabbed in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

"The continuous success of arresting most wanted persons is one way of proving the public that the PNP is extremely serious in clearing the streets of criminals in the region," Daskeo added.

He said the policemen should abide by the rules and police officers should not only look good physically but should do what is right.

To date, a total of 729 wanted persons, 63 of whom were among the top most wanted persons and members of the so-called "Acetylene Gang" in the provincial, city and municipal levels were also arrested.

In relation to anti-criminality campaign, 112 criminal cases were filed in various courts in the region, while 304 accused in crime were already jailed.

Various police offices’ crime solution efficiency increased by some 20 percent based on the six month period according to PRO-Cor spokesperson Inspector Virgilio Hidalgo.

The drive against unlicensed firearms was also successful with the seizure of 55 firearms. With the initiative of police offices, 213 firearm holders with expired firearms license were made to undergo renewal process. (Maria Lourdes Martin/ ISU – Echague Intern)
