THE controversial rave party “Kadayawan Invasion” will push through in August, but new faces will organize the event.
Kaz Onozawa of Spectrum Philippines paid a courtesy call to Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte on Thursday and vowed to comply with all the government requirements before holding the event in time for the Kadayawan celebration.
The group earlier partnered with Kat Dalisay but because of the controversy, they decided to organize the party themselves.
Based on the Facebook page of the group, Spectrum is a Cebu-based corporation registered with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC). It produces concerts and festival parties like Univercity, Sinulog Invasion, Masskara Invasion, Dinagyang Invasion, Wet Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend.
Ozonawa said these rave parties every year have been considered as one of the biggest all over the country for the past six years and the Kadayawan Invasion will be one of their events this year.
He said they have held big rave parties in Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, and Dumaguete.
He promised to comply with all the requirements and pay all taxes. Tickets, he said, will be priced at P350 for general admission and P2000 for VIPs. Their beneficiary is the House of Hope.
“We will work together with the City Government of Davao to make this event a better event,” he said.
“We came here to meet Vice Mayor Pulong and to make it clear that we are a different group,” he said.
Ozonawa said they are expecting around 5,000 people to join the Kadayawan Invasion.
Duterte said the group will also partner with businessman Sonny Dizon. The event will still be held at the Crocodile Park concert grounds.
“Wala nagsulti ang government nga bawal ang rave party sa Davao City. Bawal ang event organizer nga dili mubayad ug tamang taxes (The City Government never said that holding rave parties is prohibited. What is prohibited are event organizers who do not pay the proper taxes),” Duterte said.
Meanwhile, Duterte already signed the revocation order against Dalisay’s Manic Nightnings Production.
“Kani ha ang niabot nga (The recommended) revocation is ordering her to stop in engaging and prohibiting her from being an event organizer, ako gipa-usab revoke lang so she can start anew. Humok gihapon ako kasing-kasing (I opted to just revoke her business permit. I still have a soft heart),” he said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said Dalisay may apply for a new permit once she abides by the city’s policies and ordinances, especially the 2005 Davao City Revenue Code.
Duterte clarified that he will approve the recommendation of the 17th City Council to revoke Dalisay’s permit, citing legal grounds which is non-payment of taxes.
But he was quick to add that Dalisay can always correct her mistakes.
“I think in the future, we would be happy to grant her permit again. It is a revocation, but it is not a permanent disability,” he said.
Duterte is on leave from July 2 to August 12. His son, Vice Mayor Duterte, is the acting mayor.
Technically, the younger Duterte will sign the revocation of Dalisay’s permit.
Mayor Duterte advised Dalisay to pay the right taxes and surcharges slapped against her.
He also said attending trainings or professional seminars may help her improve her skills on organizing events.
“I’d be happy to accommodate her next time. Pero sa ngayon, pay the right taxes and just comply with the regulations. I just want her to correct the procedure,” Duterte said.
Dalisay, on the other hand, said she will review her records on tax payments and comply should there be lapses.
"Then, Maybe apply for a new business permit. ‘Maybe’, kasi I really, really don’t want this to happen again...nakaka-trauma pa. Baka pag mag-apply ako..gawan na naman ng issue. Baka di ko na kayanin and ng pamilya ko," Dalisay told Sun.Star Davao.
"Now relax muna lahat kami," she added.
Dalisay was grilled before the 17th City Council on Tuesday for the alleged violations she committed while holding rave parties in Davao City.
Dalisay, during the privilege hour, publicly apologized for the violations she has committed.
However, the Council maintained strong political will and recommended for the revocation as stated under the 2005 Davao City Revenue Code.
