Pampanga police chiefs reshuffled

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) Central Luzon office said it has recently reshuffled police chiefs in Pampanga.

The PNP has assigned new police chiefs for this city, Apalit town, and Mexico town.

Police Superintendent Ricardo Pangan Jr. who was previously the Deputy Provincial Director for Operations (DPDO) of the Pampanga police provincial office was designated as the new chief of police (COP) of Mexico town.

Pangan replaced Police Superintendent Samuel Sevilla who was transferred to Apalit town as its newly instated COP.

Meanwhile, Police Superintendent Homer Penecilla, the former COP of Apalit police, has been undergoing training in preparation for a promotion.

Penecilla is joined by Police Superintendent Edilberto Pitillano who was the previous COP of this city.

Pitillano was replaced by Police Superintendent Rechie Duldulao who was the COP of Lubao.

Recently, Pangan and Pitillano were questioned by the farmers and residents of Maimpis village in this city for their alleged "mediocre" response to the recent series of shooting incidents in a demolition site located in a disputed 130-hectare farmland here.

Police Superintendent Nelson Aganon of the PNP Central Luzon, however, clarified that the reshuffling process has nothing to do with the recent shooting incident in Maimpis village.

"It has nothing to do with the recent incidents. Since Penicilla will be vacating one position, we had to reshuffle," said Aganon.

Aganon added that there is a tenure policy, which limits the terms of the police chief officers for two years.

The reshuffling, said Aganon, will also boost the efficiency of police services in the province.

"The change of leadership will bring fresh ideas to the areas affected by the reshuffling," said Aganon.
