Road closures, re-routing for Milo marathon

SEVERAL roads in Cebu City will be closed to vehicular traffic tomorrow for the 39th Milo National Marathon.

The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) advised the public not to go to the affected areas.

Jonathan Tumulak, CCTO operations chief, said public utility jeepneys (PUJs) will be re-routed in portions of Osmeña Blvd., from P. del Rosario St. to N. Escario St. and N. Escario St. from Don Gil Garcia St. up to the portion fronting McDonald’s.

The road closures and the rerouting will take effect at 3 a.m. until the event is finished.

Detours

PUJs from Barangay Guadalupe and the Banawa area will proceed to V. Rama Ave., make a left on J. Alcantara St. or N. Bacalso Ave., a left on P. del Rosario St., a right on Osmeña Blvd. to their usual route to the Carbon area.

In going back, drivers will follow the same route going to V. Rama Ave., then back to their point of origin.

PUJs from Barangays Lahug and Apas that pass N. Escario St. will make a right on F. Sotto St. Once on Gorordo Ave., they make a right on Gen. Maxilom Ave., a left on F. Ramos St., a right on Junquera St., a right on Sanciangko St., to their usual route.

They will follow the same route for their return trip.

PUJs from Barangay Labangon (12L) that are bound for Ayala Center Cebu will head straight to P. del Rosario St., when traversing on N. Bacalso Ave., make a left on D. Jakosalem St., a left on Echavez Ext., a right on F. Ramos St., a right on Gen. Maxilom Ave., toward the loading and unloading area of the mall.

From Ayala, drivers will access Archbishop Reyes Ave., make a right on F. Sotto St. for Gen. Maxilom Ave., a left on F. Ramos St., a right on Junquera St., a right on P. del Rosario St. to N. Bacalso Ave., a right on V. Rama Ave., a left on Duterte St., to their point of origin.

Private vehicles from V. Rama Ave. will be allowed to access Maria Cristina St. in going to Ayala.

Atty. Rey Gealon, CCTO executive director, said 150 personnel will be deployed to supervise and control traffic flow in the alternative routes and the marathon route.

Traffic personnel will be deployed as early as midnight, he said.
