Senate approves allowance hike for soldiers, policemen

THE Senate has approved a joint resolution increasing the subsistence allowance of all enlisted personnel, including policemen and soldiers.

Senate President Franklin Drilon said the Joint Resolution 2 approved last Monday increases the subsistence allowance of the police and military workforce to P150 from P90.

Joint Resolution 2 authored by Senators Juan Edgardo Angara and Loren Legarda aims to augment the subsistence allowance of all officers, enlisted personnel, candidate soldiers, probationary second lieutenants, cadets, and civilian active auxiliaries of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The commissioned and non-commissioned personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protections (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and PNP Academy (PNPA) cadets are also part of the increase.

"To all the military, police, and members of Air Force, Navy, and others, they will have an increase on their daily subsistence allowance to P150, starting January 1, 2015," Drilon said.

Non-commissioned officers of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), BFP, and BJMP would also benefit in the said augmentation. (Sunnex)
