Porac mayor’s allies on Soma: ‘A mirror of himself’

PORAC -- Loyal allies of Porac Mayor Condralito “Carling” Dela Cruz said that the content of his speech and the way he delivered his State of the Municipality Address (Soma) on Friday “is a very kind one and a reflection of himself.”

Vice Mayor Dexter David and Councilor Mark Valencia said Dela Cruz “had opted not to hit his political detractors and mention their names” during the Soma at the Jose Songco Lapid Sports and Civic Center.

“There were some pieces of advice to the mayor to openly fight back the lies spread against him but he didn’t oblige,” said Valencia.

He said, “The mayor is known to be kind and humble and he stayed the way he is known for.”

Valencia said he was “most impressed” with the lines of the mayor when he said, “As you all know, I don’t have children and therefore I will focus on serving the people of Porac.”

David, who was the running-mate and loyal ally of De La Cruz for two straight terms, said “it’s good the mayor categorically stated he will seek a third and final term in 2016.”

“Of course, I will be his vice-mayor again,” said David.

Addressing the jampacked gym, Dela Cruz doused off rumors that he will not run for mayor in the next elections.

He also took note of “too much politicking,” adding that “it’s still too early for the next elections and we must work first.”

David said “It’s great there is the SOMA because we will see the accomplishments of the mayor and his people.”

“Mayor Dela Cruz has done a lot. But he is not really the type who openly publicizes all his work. That’s the mayor. He is silent, humble and a very good person,” said David. (Joey Pavia/Contributor)
