Kapuso stars celebrate Kagayan Festival with CdeO fans

GMA Kapuso stars Dingdong Dantes, Alden Richards and Maricris Garcia join in the celebration of the Kagayan Festival through a Kapuso Mall Show at SM City Cagayan de Oro on August 28, Thursday afternoon.

Actor Dingdong Dantes, a strong advocate of education, joined the launching of DepEd’s "Abot – Alam" program at Cagayan de Oro city hall after they gave school bags to the students of Consolacion Public School in barangay Consolacion early yesterday afternoon.

"Abot-alam" program is a framework that goals for a zero out of school youth in the Philippines. This year, the program targets to give a million OSYs education and livelihood skills.

“Last March, despite being busy, I really finished my education because I believe that it is important, especially to the youth.” Dantes said.

Dingdong Dantes graced the launching at the city hall of the city to formally implement the "Abot-alam" program here.

According to Dantes, his father finished High School at Xavier High School, one of the private schools in the city, so Cagayan de Oro is a special place for him.

“My grandfather was in the military, and when he was assigned here, my dad studied in Xavier. Whenever I visit, Cagayan de Oro always gives me that fresh feeling of being welcomed. It's part of our family history,” He added.

Newly engaged to co–Kapuso star Marian Rivera, Dantes and Rivera will hold their private wedding on December 30, 2014 and start the upcoming new year as newlyweds.

Bet ng Bayan co-host Alden Richards reveals that hosting alongside the Asia’s Song bird Regine Velasquez is a really huge deal.

“I feel really pressured especially that the management wanted me to portray a role of a host that is ‘someone to look up to but reachable’, and also being with Ms. Regine (Velasquez), THE Asia’s Songbird... syempre im feeling excited and nervous. But all in all I’m blessed to have this. I’m really grateful for GMA for giving me this.”

As a teen, Richards' dream is to be a pilot, however they could not afford aeronautics, so he ended up taking BS Management. The course turned out to be a half hearted undertaking for him.

Getting in to showbiz, he hustled his way into the spotlight and lived a ‘not so luxurious’ life then, which in return keeps him grounded.

With his playful, humble and candid nature, he indeed plays the role of someone to be looked up to but still, reachable and close to his fans.

Maricris Garcia, Pinoy Pop Superstar winner, is hoping to launch a new album next year.

“When I won, it was really a while before nag sink in na winner ako. Kasi, growing up I didn’t see myself as a professional singer. Talagang I sing lang because I love it.”

Currently, the diva is trying to establish a certain genre, trying to focus on Jazz and Bossa

“Sana next year I’ll have shows and album, hopefully.” Garcia said.

Happy with her boyfriend, Garcia admits that being in a relationship with a non-showbiz personality is hard with regard to time management.

“Mahirap kasi hindi siya familiar sa ganun, minsan may pagkakaintidihan. But happy ako kasi okay kami, napaguusapan naman at talagang we try to have time together, nag e-effort kami.” She added.

Garcia and her boyfriend both got a tattoo on their shoulders two years ago which means ‘tadhana’ or destiny, crossing their fingers that they are indeed, fated for each other.

Dantes, Richards and Garcia look forward to exploring the city’s tourist spots more during their free time.
