Angel Locsin supports Neri Colmenares' Senate bid

ANGEL Locsin is supporting the senatorial bid of relative, Bayan Muna Representative Neri Colmenares, in the 2016 elections.

On Monday, the television actress accompanied Colmenares in filing his certificate of candidacy before the Commission on Elections in Intramuros, Manila.

Locsin said she came to the poll body not as an actor, but a believer of Colmenares' capability to do good things for the country.

"Alam ko kung anong lifestyle niya. Alam ko na kahit na ang tagal na niyang naglilingkod, isa pa rin siya sa pinakamahirap na congressman sa bansa natin," she said in an ANC interview.

Colmenares has a net worth of P2.3 million in 2014 unlike most of his colleagues in the House of Representative who are multi-millionaires.

"Makakatulog ako ng mahimbing na alam ko yung buwis na binabayad ko ay mapupunta sa tama at hindi lang sa bulsa ng makikinabang, kundi sa taong bayan talaga," Locsin said.

She is also open to helping Colmenares during the campaign, which kicks off in February 2016.

"Kung kakayanin ng schedule. Naniniwala talaga ako sa kanya. Isa siyang napakabuting tao. Alam ko na 100 percent yung sincerity niya sa pagtulong," she said.

Locsin, Angelica Colmenares in real life, is the aunt of the progressive lawmaker.

Aside from Locsin, political activist Juana Change expressed support to Colmenares' bid to enter the Senate next year.

“Si Neri ang nag e-embody ng bagong politika at ng authentic na pagbabago at karakter ng tunay ng tunay na makatao," she said. (with Denisse Tan/Joy Anne Enriquez/Eugene Abillar, UST interns/Sunnex)
