Sanjo powers Cobras vs. CIT-U

LANDRY Sanjo muscled his way through the defense to lift the Southwestern University over the Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats, 75-67, in the 2014 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum last Friday.

Sanjo scored 11, including the last nine points for the Cobras, during the crucial stretch in the fourth period.
Earlier, Earl Undaloc woke up the fighting spirit of his teammates as he scored five straight points, including a triple that started the uprising of CIT-U.

Down 49-43, CIT-U suddenly found themselves ahead with Franklyn Batiquin nailing back-to-back triples that gave the Wildcats a 59-58 lead.

Coach Yayoy Alcoseba was forced to send back his starters to neutralize the rampaging CIT-U. Sanjo and Anton Pardo answered to put SWU back up, 68-61, with 57.8 seconds left to play.

But CIT Dimco and Batiquin sank a triple each to tow the Wildcats within 70-67 in the final 31.3 seconds.

However, Sanjo took care of business, while CIT-U failed to score anew until the final buzzer.

Sanjo scored the game-high 36 points on top of 19 rebounds, five steals and two blocks. Mark Jayven Tallo added 11 points and Pardo finished with 10 points for the Cobras, who are still missing the services of Adams Mohammad (foot injury), Daryl Goloran (hamstring) and Jasper Parker (hamstring).

SWU is now tied with USC with a 6-1 win-loss record, while CIT-U dropped to fifth place with a 2-5 record. RCM
