Murica leaders join planning workshop

TWENTY-FIVE community leaders representing various sectors in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Murcia participated in Community Development Planning workshop Wednesday as part of the celebration of the Peace Month this September.

The activity, Healing, Reconciliation, Peace and Empowerment Program, was spearheaded by the Provincial Peace Integration and Development Unit together with the Philippine Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade, government agencies, and other non-government organizations.

The Pro-PIDU aims to provide basic services and sustainable livelihood to the people.

Col. Jon Aying, commander of the 303rd IB, addressed the people by highlighting the importance of healing, reconciliation, and empowerment within the community to achieve sustainable peace.

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr., in his message delivered by Pro-PIDU action officer Ma. Lina Sanogal, said that peace should be present in order to achieve progress within the community.

Murcia Municipal Agriculturist Edgar Alcanta shared Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano’s message of support to the provincial Government’s programs for the people of Murcia.

Residents also availed of the free medical/dental services, family packs, livelihood supplies, medicines and services from the Provincial Health Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Veterinary Office, Provincial Agriculturist Office, Provincial Environment and Management Office and NGOs.
