Guv eyes quality, affordable education

MABALACAT CITY -- “With the P10-million funding and construction of Mabalacat City College (MCC) Dapdap Campus, the bright future of the youth here is born.”

Thus said Governor Lilia Nanay Pineda as she revealed that the Provincial Board led by 1st District Board Members Crisostomo Garbo and Cherry Manalo initiated the funding approval for the satellite campus project.

"So let us also thank our provincial board members from the 1st district," the governor said.

Pineda said the MCC Dapdap Campus would cater to the educational needs of the poor but deserving students who are residing in Dapdap, Sapang Biabas, Bundagul and other adjacent villages here; and Santa Lucia and San Isidro resettlement sites in nearby Magalang town.

“They will now have an access to quality and affordable college education through the soon to be constructed MCC Dapdap Campus by the next school year,” Pineda said.

She said more opportunities will be given to deserving students through private and public partnership.

Dr. Rolando Buan, a Kapampangan who resides in Wisconsin, United States of America, donated a one-hectare land beside the Madapdap Resettlement for the school.

The donation was facilitated by the Fiesta Communities, Incorporated, a socialized housing developer owned by businessman and Moka awarded Willie Tan.

Tan said he encouraged Buan to donate a parcel of land as sign of gratitude to the Cabalen and to the province. “I asked him to donate one-hectare as it is a time to payback the so many blessings that the Almighty had given him," he said.

During the signing of memorandum of agreement with the Provincial Government last year, Buan said that he is deeply honored and humbled by this singular act of giving back to the community.

“I am happy that my donation is intended and dedicated to the education of the young people; the up and coming generations who will take over for us. These people who one day may lead; help govern and participate in providing a good life for the people of Mabalacat and beyond,” Buan was quoted as saying.

Buan also said that the city college Dapdap Campus will help inspire the children to reach for the ‘stars’ and aim high. “It is well known fact that to improve one’s life and help family and to compete nowadays, one must be well educated,” he added.

Tan said the school’s fence was already completed. He also vowed to construct a two-storey building to be used by the local police for the security of the students and the residents.

Tan said that through this future development, homeowners of Fiesta communities in Dapdap are also given privilege to education.

“Fiesta communities continue to develop more affordable projects and providing more opportunities," he said.

Mayor Marino Boking Morales said that the City Council is set to appropriate P10-million for the construction of addition facilities inside the MCC Dapdap Campus.

“Education is the key to a bright future of the youth of the next generation,” the mayor said.

Congressman Joseller Yeng Guiao said he would facilitate the release of another P10-million next year for the full development of the said campus.

The event was also graced by Board Members Crisostomo Garbo, Cherry Manalo, Vice Mayor Christian Halili and other city officials.
