USLS grad crowned MassKara Queen 2015

A 20-YEAR-OLD cum laude graduate of the University of St. La Salle (USLS) was crowned MassKara Queen 2015 during the Coronation Night at SMX Convention Center in SM City Bacolod Monday night.

Sam Gergiana Yu, who finished her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education major in Mathematics, bested 10 other ladies in a pageant of “beauty, brains, and cause.”

Yu was also chosen Best in Swimwear. She also won the Miss MassKara Rotary Advocacy for advocating health and education of children together with Busog Lusog Talino program of Jollibee Foundation.

She also won corporate awards such as Miss Delaram-Karat World, Miss Merzci, Miss Glutha, and Miss Kokuryu Beauty and Butter.

Kennyveb Casabuena, a 19-year-old BS in Office Administration student of Bacolod City College, was first runner-up. She advocates for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community.

Casabuena also won the Miss Photogenic, and Darling of the Press awards. She also bagged corporate awards such as Miss Flawless, Miss Forest Park Olay, Miss Butter, and Miss Pioneer Insurance.

Ivy Benedicto, a 20-year-old AB Disciplinary Studies student of USLS, was second runner-up.

Rounding up the Top 7 were Aniara Faduhilao, Janelle Pauline Teo, Chin Chin Golez, and Mae Lourine Mercado.

Mercado, 18, won the Best in Evening Gown award and was named Miss Talent. She was also chosen Miss 2GO Supercat, Miss Camella Homes, Miss Sisters, and Miss Sophie.

Faduhilao, 18, was chosen Miss Alta Essencia.

Jennifer Agudelo, 23, was chosen Best in Festival Costume, while Rezel Esporas, 21, was named Miss Congeniality. Mae Alyn Marzan, 22, was chosen Miss Advocacy.

Ronilyn Baloco was named Miss Block and White, and Miss Eskinol.

Judging the pageant were 2GO Travel senior vice president Stephen Rey Tagud, Mutya ng Pilipinas—Asia Pacific International 2015 Leren Mae Bautista, Rotary Club of Muntinlupa president Marie Agnes Inocencio;

Miss Iloilo Dinagyang chairperson Alex Soncio, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry—Western Visayas regional governor Joe Marie Agriam, and MassKara Festival director Rhoderick Samonte.

Hosting the pageant was Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago.
