Accountancy graduate crowned Miss Silka CdeO 2014

ACCOUNTANCY graduate Charinna Barro earned the crown as Miss Silka CdO 2014 on September 4.

From the screening, the talent competition, swimsuit competition and the long gown competition, the top 6, Candidate #14 Cyd Marie Simene, Candidate #7 Gladden Pearl Badajos, Candidate #10 Jone Leanel Orog, Candidate #1 Rea Mae Hebia, Candidate #6 Ruffa Kerstin Malinao and Candidate #11 Charinna Barro, rose up to the last leg of the sub competitions, and in the question in answer portion they were judged based on beauty and intelligence.

Candidate # 11 Charinna Barro outshone the other candidates when she was asked “Are you intimidated or not with other girls who are prettier and more beautiful? Why?” during the Q and A portion in which she replied that she is not a bit intimidated, because God made each one unique and she believes she is beautiful in her “own way.”

Barro was awarded Best in Swimsuit, Darling of the Crowd, Best in Long Gown, and the Mendez Gluta Skin Award. She also took home P25,000 cash prize.

‘Aiming for Miss Silka 2014’

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration major in Accounting in Jose Rizal University in Mandaluyong City, 19 year-old Barro wants to pursue a master’s degree in the coming semester.

“My future plan is to be a CPA and or be a lawyer in the near future. Perhaps build my own firm and become successful in the business industry,” Barro said.

With her inclination to fashion and the modeling industry, Barro joined Miss Silka to enhance her poise and confidence. Also, she wanted to try her luck as a beauty queen and was fortunate enough to win.

“I wanted to bring honor to my family and as Miss Silka CdeO, I want to make a difference. To make others understand that it’s not just being white, stunning, tall and beautiful but behind the glamour is a heart with the will to help others in any way I could. I want to win the crown in the national level so that my family, supporters, the Silka CdeO family and the Kagayanons will be proud that they chose me to win and represent them,” the aspiring beauty queen added.

‘Responsibilities as Miss Silka CdeO’

According to Jessryl Torres, the event organizer for this year’s search, as winner of Miss Silka CdeO, Barro will represent the region in the upcoming Miss Silka Philippines competition in November, a pageant running for nine years already in different cities in the country.

u201dAs Ms. Silka Cagayan de Oro, she is not allowed to participate in other pageants as indicated in the contract and she has to be a role model to the youth and to the community,” Torres added.

Barro is planning to participate in next year’s search for Miss Cagayan de Oro to give justice of the privilege and honor she acquired and is grateful for the continuing support of her parents and friends.
