Robinsons to end 2014 with 35 malls

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), operator of Robinsons Malls, announced on Saturday the opening of two malls this month and October, making the total number of its branches in the country to 35.

Irving Wu, RLC operations director for Luzon, said they will open Robinsons in Antipolo City in September 25 and the 35th Gokongwei-owned mall in Las Pinas City in October 25.

Wu, who graced the launching of the 17th Sinukwan Festival at the Robinsons Starmills here, said the RLC will have 25 malls in Luzon by end of 2014.

Wu said that the RLC will construct five malls in 2015 and “most of which will be in Visayas.” RLC has 12 malls in Visayas and Mindanao.

Wu also announced the expansion projects of the malls in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac and Ilocos Norte. Robinsons Ilocos Norte was voted “Best Community Mall-Small Category” by the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA).

Jodee Pineda-Arroyo, regional operations manager, said they will construct a new bus terminal at the Robinsons Starmills. She added that the construction will start by October.

“This is our way of contributing to the call of the mayor to help control and minimize traffic,” said Arroyo, referring to the call of City of San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago to help in controlling traffic in the area.

Arroyo said 12 buses can wait for passengers at the same time and an additional 500-square meter lot will be allotted for “waiting” buses and passengers.

Architect Oliver Gadia, Starmills manager, said the mall, which hosts the yearly “Giant Lantern” contest here, has at least 100 stores and shops.

“For the past three decades, Robinsons Malls has maintained a legacy of worl-class standards in terms of design, facilities and services. It is also guided by a strategic and market-driven tenant mix, bringing together the best brands in the industry,” RLC said in a statement.

“From shopping to dining and recreation, it serves as a one-stop shop retail complex offering only the best deals and the finest options in every category. It also provides products and services that address every shopper’s needs,” it added. (Joey Pavia, contributor)
